The company of limited responsibility Training Center  of seafarers “AVANT” has the licence of Ukrainian Ministry of Education and Science, Ministry of Transport and Communication. The Training Centre is located in Illichivsk on the territory of Illichivsk Commercial Sea Port.

Illichivsk Commercial Sea Port is the third one in Ukraine. Owing to the rapid development of port structures all shifting container terminals and auxiliary fleet require highly qualified specialists of marine working professions – sailors, motormen (machinists), ship electricians, ship electrogaswelders, ship turners, boatswains, engineers of small tonnage ships, navigators of small tonnage ships. The Training Centre “AVANT” has a great experience in training (improving professional skills) among qualified ratings of marine working professions, auxiliary, small tonnage fleet of marine and river transport. In the Training Centre “AVANT” great attention is paid to training of marine working specialists and workers for Illichivsk ship repairing plant which carries out repairs for all types of vessels with displacement under 120 000 ton.

Both officers (navigators of small tonnage fleet, engineers of small tonnage and auxiliary fleet) and ratings (sailors, motormen (machinists), boatswains, ship electricians, ship electrogaswelders and ship turners train and improve professional skills in the Training Centre “AVANT”.

According to the List of Enterprises (official edition of Inspectorate for Training and Certification of seafarers of Ukrainian Ministry of Transport and Communication, Kyiv-2007) training with receipt of professional technical education according to the professions “boatswain”, “ship electrician”, “ship electrogaswelder”, “ship turner” may be secured  in the Training Centre “AVANT” only.

According to monitoring and analyses which was carried out  by “Agency of regional development” in Odessa organization of employers, educational services which are gained by the students in the Training Centre “AVANT” became very popular at the labour market of the region. In accordance to Quality Management Standards, Quality Management System is applied in the Training Centre “AVANT” which is certificated by Navigational Register of Ukraine and secure training of seafarers according to International Quality Standards.

Special attention is paid to selection of teachers’ personnel. Qualified lectors with great experience of service in marine economic complex teach theoretical courses. Teachers-instructors  regularly improve their qualification at seminars which are organized by Inspectorate for Training and Certification of seafarers, State Department of Marine and River Transport, Navigational Register of Ukraine. Teachers-instructors of the Training Centre “AVANT” pay special attention to methodical elaborations for teaching different disciplines in accordance to their curricula. During 2006-2008 period the teachers of Centre wrote and published 22 methodical supplies.

Boyko Petro Vasylyovich, the Chief of Training Center “AVANT”, was awarded to Diplomas of Ukrainian Ministry of Education and Science, Ministry of Transport of Ukraine, Inspectorate for Training and Certification of seafarers . He has a diploma of publishing project “Marine and river complex” etc.
